POWDERFINGER at THE ZOO

Anthony supported POWDERFINGER on Wednesday 30th September 2009 at the Zoo, Fortitude Valley.  Anthony performed a set with a strong Latin flavour and shared some of his more "pop" inspired works before an animated crowd at The ZOO.   Powderfinger took to the stage and gave the audience a taste of their new album as well as some of the classics!  The crowd loved it!  T

DARWIN
Performing with Didgeridoo legend William Barton and the Darwin Festival Guitar Orchestra, Anthony premiered his piece Ulysses Blue infront 500 enthusiastic Darwin audience members.  Set in the stunning outdoor amphi theatre, kissed by the perfect night air a magic evening was had by all.  Thankyou to the members of the Darwin Festival Guitar Orchestra, thankyou to the members of the Butterfly Orchestra and thankyou to the wonderful audience members who made the evening one to remember.   And while on thanks...thanks to William Barton for his incredible musical talents.  This festival is definately a cultural event that should be attended if possible.  Stay tune, we shall try and post some photos and or recordings of the concert.

NEW YORK
Anthony travelled to New York in July to participate in the ARTOMI International Musicians Residency Program.  Anthony was selected as one of 14 composers from around the world to participate in the artists residency which culminated in to two public performances in New York City.   www.artomi.org  Thanks must be given to the American Australian Association who, through the Joan Sutherland Fund have given funds to assist in the travel costs for this trip.  To find out more about what this organisation does for emerging artists who  excell in their practise go to www.americanaustralian.org

What an incredibly inspiring, challenging, yet creatively powerful experience this residency was.  Set in the stunning surrounds of the countryside north of New York City Anthony spent three weeks improvising, connecting with other musicians of all backgrounds on many different instruments and opening up to a deeper realm of creative expression that lies within everybody.  With performances at Art Omi and The Roulette in New York City this experience was one that will never be forgotten.

Workshops

To all the interested participants of Anthony's workshop has not been scheduled.  We are looking into this now and will keep you posted.  Thanks for your patience......and the details of what will be covered are folllowing.

This workshop uses demonstration, discussion and practical interaction to reveal the magical art of self expression on the guitar!  Using simple exercises with traditional and non traditional techniques Anthony helps guitarists develop a creative approach to making music on this much loved instrument.   The workshop will require participants to have a basic understanding of the workings of the guitar.  Material for the workshop will contain standard music notation and guitar tablature.
